Subject Guides and Subject Librarians Tutorial Script

Every department and program at UPEI has a librarian who understands their research needs and common ways to find information.

On the Robertson Library website, you’ll see pictures of all of our subject librarians.

When you click on a librarian’s picture or name, you’ll reach a page with more information. For example, if you click on Rosie Le Faive, you will see that she is the subject librarian for Computer Science, DSJS, and several other areas.

On this page, you’ll see a link to the librarian’s appointment calendar. You can book an online appointment with any librarian, or an in-person appointment with most librarians. You can also send research questions as an e-mail or find the librarian’s phone number.

Not sure who your subject librarian is? You can ask in the Ask Us chat or at the library service desk. A full list of subjects with their librarians is online at library.upei.ca/librarians.

If you’re looking for general resources to help with your research for a class, you should consult our subject guides. You can access subject guides by hovering your mouse over the “Subject Guides” menu at the top and selecting your subject. Each subject guide is different, but they all give you information about doing research in that subject area, and they often include helpful links to Library resources or free online resources.

For example, the Nursing guide has a page about finding journal articles, a page with resources for nurse practitioners, and more. On the left, you will see the subject librarian assigned to that subject; you can contact them with questions.
