Telling Island Stories

Telling Island Stories is a community archive made possible by a partnership between the Innovation PEI and UPEI's Robertson Library. The project focusses on presenting the historic materials that embody the traditions and folkways of PEI.

Telling Island Stories is the underlying archive that populates the TourPad PEI iPad application. In combination the archive and the application represent a new phase in the development of the Islandora digital repository. Digital objects contained in the Telling Island Stories archive include location data. The location data allows for objects to be accessed via the PEI TourPad iPad application in and around their communities of origin. This project's greatest potential lies in its ability to engage PEI's rural communities in digital preservation, to provide information technology skills training for youth, and to atract and retain tourists.
